What a weekend we had here! Lots and lots of soccer on Saturday and another game again on Sunday. Yesterday before the boys headed off to the game with Mark, I came downstairs and had a Parisian breakfast from a local cafe here in town. Quiche and brioche and croissants OH MY! It was delicious and had been set out on pretty plates with cloth napkins all on a French cafe tray that I had stored away. I guess if I can’t go to Paris, it can come to me!
The kids made me gifts and cards and without a doubt, those are my favorite kind of presents. Jake hand knit a dishcloth for me as knitting has become his favorite pastime thanks to his teacher. I have to say he is getting ahead of me in that department! Cole created a recycled shoe planter and it is adorable. Very Wall-E looking. Claire made hand painted artwork and was so pround she described every detail from top to bottom. It was all so sweet and thoughtful. I am so in love with my babies!
I was able to get a ton of gardening and dirt digging accomplished thanks to my mother-in-law watching Claire and I can’t wait to show you what I made! Later that night, after I cleaned the dirt and weeds off me, we all went out for dinner at another local favorite restaurant, Fetch. There is one in NYC and I’m so glad Adam opened the doors here in Warwick. After we ate it was still light out and very warm so we headed up the mountain for dessert at the most delicious creamery and got a scoop (or two) of homemade ice cream at Bellvale. I have to say it was probably one of my favorite Mother’s Day weekends ever. It was also Mark’s birthday on Saturday so we had a little extra celebrating going on.
Now that the weekend is over and we’re heading into the middle of Spring, I am in full blown vacation mode. I think we may pack the car and plan another road trip for August. Last year’s was such a success and with Claire being another year older and us having the experience as first timers behind us, it may become an annual event.
How do you plan your holidays and vacations? Far in advance or spur of the moment? I like a little of both to keep it interesting. The above is travel scratch off map to help us keep track of our road trip adventures. Love it!
