Happy Weekend!

With the boys only having two weeks left of school, my mind is full of summer.  Everyday this week we have been outside after school soaking up the last bit of daylight before supper.  It’s already feeling like those lazy days are upon us and the kids are right there with me counting down on the calendar.

This is the first summer that Jake and Cole asked to go to camp.  In the past, they have done a week here and there but always a last minute sign up just prior to the start date.  This year feels different, more serious and planned.  They chose three sessions that seemed full of interesting activities and are looking forward to seeing their friends during the summer break.  Their days will be spent exploring on a local farm and I’m excited for them to have this experience.  Also a bit envious.  Who wouldn’t want to have their time filled with creating art, hiking, boating, making pottery and learning to play guitar?  Seriously, I want to be ten and go with them.

Do your kids attend summer camp?  How about a sleepover camp?  I’m curious to hear how you decide on how many weeks and how far away they can go.  What age you decided it was OK to let go and leave them for a week or more.  I’m not ready for that step just yet.

This weekend we are wrapping up the last of the soccer games while crossing our fingers for sunny weather!  Maybe we’ll fire up the BBQ and spend some more time outside until the sun sets.

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Until then…

Live Well

Quinn is still a bit too young (3.5) and I’m waiting until he is old enough so that I can send the boys to the same place. Being able to have them together is important, cost is always an issue and I don’t really want to be driving too far, unless the destination is somewhere I could spend time doing errands or working. I don’t know if I will ever do sleep away camp. When they are older I think I’d rather send them to sleep over at a relative’s house, or send them to Canada, before I’d do sleep away camp. It’s just hard for me to trust others with my kids! I’m pretty sure any program I’d sign them up for would also be a recommendation from a friend. Quinn will be old enough next summer, maybe we could coordinate camp for the boys so they can go together!

I agree about the recommendation and that is exactly why we chose this camp for the boys. It met many of the same requirements you have for us like distance, both in the same place etc.

I’m not sure about the sleep over part either. I did it for one week when I was 12 and I wanted to go home by day two!

Is it Free Spirit? Season will be there this summer. Your description sounds like exactly why we signed her up. Its our first time too :)

We are doing the one day per week – Tuesdays – throughout the Summer. She’s soooo excited! What about Cole?
