I hurt my arm/elbow so badly that it’s painful to type so I am stopping by only for a quick hello. I’m still trying to figure out what the heck I did to cause it injury. It’s making me crazy that I can’t lift anything heavier than a piece of paper and can barely wring out a sponge to wash the dishes!
While I heal, I will quickly tell you this. It has been so dry around these parts, along with most of the country, that the corn is shorter than I have ever seen during this time of year. It’s brown and tan stalks are begging for it to rain. Even the trees appear thirsty. For a moment last night, when I heard thunder, I silently said a prayer to the rain gods above to open up the sky and let it fall.
They did, but only for a little while. Definitely not enough to quench the thirst of our farm fields. Luckily, I have managed to keep my own corn happy and watered during this drought, while we watch it grow nice and tall. Exciting things going on in that mixed up garden of mine.
Live Well

would love to hear more about your garden progress. any issues you’ve run into this summer? what’s successful so far? It’s my first year planting anything and it’s going ok – cherry tomatoes are turning red and basil is being eaten by something! xo
Work in progress is more like it! It started out great with beautiful seedlings and then most of them died.
The seeds directly planted grew well and the few additional veggies I picked up at my local organic garden center have been doing fantastic.
I will have corn, one group of beets, leeks, lemon cucumbers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and maybe ,just maybe one bunch of carrots.
Plus I have rosemary, thyme, sage, parsley and basil on my back deck. The other herbs got fried when I was on vacation and we had a heatwave.
What else other than the tomatoes and basil are you attempting? Are you having any luck?
