Today I am having one of those full circle moments in life. Well, maybe not a full circle moment in the true sense of the phrase, but a moment nonetheless. This past week marks a year since I attended Camp Mighty and started focusing on living a more intentional life. It all began with my Life List. And from that list, I chose five items to give priority and time to over the year. This approach would make the overall list seem less daunting. It undoubtedly helped me achieve my goals without feeling like I had added to my already full life of to-dos.
To prepare for this year’s trip, I needed to look over my list and choose my five goals for 2013. I was amazed at how many items I was able to cross as I went down the line. A few I had forgotten about and others had been finished by chance. Isn’t that the way it should happen? This magical list gives you a stepping off point and then you have it out there floating around to work on, add and delete goals and cross off as you go. A working document that is never set in stone. I like that.
I have to admit something to all of you. None of my top five items were crossed off. One was, but that is only because I didn’t know we already had a community garden. It just so happened to have gotten started right before I was ready to look into making it happen. Either way, it is done, I have crossed it off and now added an additional goal – make a difference within my community. I am already working on making that happen with a local business and it feels good to be doing my part.
After I return home and wrap my head around all the mind-blowing experiences I will have had, I’ll share my new top five with you. One change for this year, I made sure to pick a range of goals that would be both challenging and easy so I am able to stay better focused. I went too big too fast and we all know how that usually turns out. Lesson learned. I picked from the heart and if the year ahead is anything close to this past year there will be more than five crossed off by next fall.
I will try my best to get a post up on Friday, but if you don’t find me here, I would love for you to travel along with me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I’ll be posting pics and happenings as I hang out with a bunch of really cool people at an amazingly hip hotel.
See you in Palm Springs!
