Creative Tuesday~DIY Kraft Paper & Mason Jar Holiday Vase

 {Post courtesy of Caroline, a TerraSavvy contributor who also creates on her blog, Salsa Pie.}

Guess what? I have the best tip for your holiday entertaining: you can make easy (and adorably stylish) holiday vases out of simple glass jars and decorated strips of Kraft paper! Stuff the vases with your favorite holiday greenery or flowers and invite all your friends over. Holiday decorating has never been such a cinch!

You Will Need:

Kraft Paper

White Acrylic Paint

Glass Jars (some to use as your vases and one for the paint stamping)

A shallow container (for the paint)

Scissors

Clear Tape

Step 1

Squeeze out some white acrylic paint into a shallow container and dip a jar rim in, twist around. Roll out your Kraft paper and begin stamping on the paper with your jar rim dipped in paint. Pro Tip: Twist the jar rim onto the paper while stamping to make an even ring and be sure you use just enough paint to cover the rim. Using excess paint will make the stamping runny and messy looking.

Step 2

Once you stamp out the rings on your paper allow the paper to dry. Inside your house, if you have heat running,  it will take about 1/2 an hour (or less) to dry.

Step 3

Cut your paper into strips about 2-2.5 inches wide or wider for taller jars.

Step 4

Wrap the paper around the jar and cut to size. Tape the strip closed with clear tape. If you wrap the strip of paper snug enough, you won’t need additional tape to tape onto the jar.

Step 5

Fill the jar with your favorite winter greenery (or festive flowers) and add water. Use the leftover painted Kraft paper (or make extra in advance) using the jar-rim stamping technique or cork-stamp some polka dots like we did here and wrap some gifts for the ones you love!

Thanks Caroline, for getting us into the holiday spirit!
