This is always the time of the holiday season that I’m busy with last-minute wrapping and do you know what? I really enjoy wrapping gifts! I always have loved this part about the holiday season.
Even when I’m busy, I try to make the gift wrapping something just as special as the gift. My theory is that spending a little time and effort on the wrapping, kind of makes the whole act of giving even more special. That being said, I am a mother to four little ones, so more times than not I’m stuffing a gift in a gift bag while driving to a birthday party!
The project that I have for you today is an idea you can complete is 30 minutes:
Snow Painted Pine Cones for your gifts!
The kids can help with gathering the pine cones (or you can easily find them at any craft store) and then all you’ll need is some white acrylic paint and white yarn to complete the look.
Ready to get started with creating this wintery look? Me too!
Make: Snow Painted Pine Cone Gift Tags
Materials Needed:
White acrylic paint and a paint brush
A small shallow container for your paint
A surface to dry the wet painted pine cones (they can be a bit messy while drying since painted on all sides)
White yarn
Scissors
And finally, wrapped presents
Step 1:
In a shallow container distribute a little white paint and begin painting the pine cone. Pro tip: I wanted the effect to look like snow had fallen so I only painted the outside/topside of each of the scales. Paint all the way from the base to the tip.
Step 2:
Allow the pine cones to dry completely. My pine cones took about 20 minutes to dry inside our house with the heat on. If you live in an area where you don’t need heat this time of year (lucky you!) it may take about 10 minutes longer.
Step 3:
Tie some white yarn to the base of each pine cone so you can tie it to your gift.
Step 4:
Tie the pine cones to your gift where you tie your bow and you are done! You can use the yarn as your ribbon and tie little bows or make little pom-poms from the yarn. Anything will do!
Step 5:
Give your gift with a little “Ho! Ho! Ho!” and you’re ready to go!
Happy Holidays!
Thanks Caroline for another simple and beautiful idea!
