As soon as the Christmas decorations get put away around here, we start planning another big event. Cole’s birthday happens to be on Valentine’s Day and it comes around quickly once the New Year is over. So, when Minted reached out to me and asked if I was interested in using their party decor, I didn’t hesitate.* As you may know, I am a fan of entertaining and creating a feel or theme to the event. I get all crazy with the details and as much fun as it is for me, it tends to be a bit of a distraction and a huge time consuming endeavor.
Minted is well known for its collaboration with independent designers. They highlight the artists work through online competitions and then their winning designs are sold on paper goods. I have used their invitations and announcements before and was excited to see their new party line in person.
Usually Cole asks for a Valentine theme which makes it easy for me when I plan out the decor. This year he decided he wants a Chinese New Year Party. He has had an interest in the country’s culture for a long time and if given a choice, he will always pick Chinese food for a meal.
Minted doesn’t carry a line of party decor with that specific theme, but I knew I would find something that would work into our plans. After careful consideration I chose the colorful balloons group. I picked items that I felt would blend in with all the color of the Chinese New Year and still be age appropriate for an eight year old. The collection includes customizable banners and signs, confetti, stickers, cupcake toppers, thank you bags and a few more items to complete the check list. Such an amazingly simple and beautiful way to add to the party without having to become a DIY master.
As expected, I wasn’t disappointed when my order arrived. The paper quality is gorgeous and each item will blend nicely with our day. My only suggestion to Minted would be to rethink their individual packaging of each group of items. Lots of little plastic bags for keeping those pretty papers safe. I’m just hoping the plastic is of the biodegradable kind!
