This weekend I will be packing for Alt. Summit and making sure these pretty little cards get into the suitcase. Have you gone to Alt. Summit before? If you have, then you know the craziness over pretty, unique and beautiful business cards. As you may already know, I am a letterpress lover without a doubt. The way the thickness of the paper feels in your hands, so substantial. How each color has to be chosen carefully because with every additional color there is an added expense. A handmade piece of artwork churned out with every batch off the press. Ahhh, can you imagine it too?
Mine came from Lettuce Press in Portland, Oregon and working with them was super easy and a fun experience. I met Allison at the National Stationery Show back in May and fell in love with her amazing booth display. I wanted to move in! Check out the pictures here (first option – Southern Weddings blog). She has a warm and inviting personality and there wasn’t a hard sell happening there. Something rare at a trade show of this nature.
What sold me on using Lettuce Press to design and print my cards was their green business practices. They only use recycled paper, no trees get cut down at the expense of a card. Their company practices an environmentally conscious method of printing using earth friendly cleaning supplies, inks and solvents.
I chose my design based on Allison’s own business calling card. I hadn’t seen anything quite like it before with its square shape and extra thick paper stock. So, I copied her! Same paper weight and creamy pearl white color using my own design of course. Plus, for added interest, I turned it on its side. You know, for that little something you don’t see every day. My logo was well suited to the space, so I went with it.
