Creative Tuesday ~ Paper Heart Streamers

You can make any room, anywhere super festive for Valentine’s Day by simply using construction paper, glue, glitter and scissors. Seriously, it is just that easy. This project I’m about to share with you will make a big impact because nothing shouts “Celebration!” quite like streamers. Especially streamers with hearts! This is also a great kid-friendly activity so they can get in on the action as well.

To get started, you’ll need these supplies:

Construction Paper

A glue stick

Glitter

Scissors

Clear Tape

Okay, are ready to learn how to make these? Do you have your scissors and paper handy? Let’s get started!

Step 1:
Cut out heart shapes from construction paper using your favorite colors.

Step 2:
Using your glue stick, glue areas of the heart (the tips, the tops, the sides) or glue the entire heart shape and sprinkle on your glitter color of choice.

Step 3:
Once you glitter each heart, allow them to dry about 10 minutes.

Step 4:
Next, you will be cutting out your streamers from your construction paper. To make construction paper streamers you will need one sheet of paper for each streamer. Hold he paper horizontally and begin cutting a thin strip upwards. Cut until you almost reach the other end and then STOP. Flip the paper over and begin cutting right next to your first slit on the opposite side, all the way to the other side until you almost reach the end and then stop. Repeat until you reach the end of your paper and you will have formed a streamer! These alternating slits form a long zig-zag streamer.

Step 5:

Now it’s time to glue your hearts onto your streamers! Using your glue stick, glue the back of each heart to your streamers. I found that it looks best to glue then on the same side of the streamer but either way is fine. I added a few hearts per streamer and some on the ends as well. Allow to dry another 10 minutes and you’re finished!

Now you are finished and ready to hang your streamers on the ceiling or in a doorway! Anywhere is fine and it’s totally up to you! We hung them all over the house. Hooray!
